JOB TITLE: Elementary Teacher
JOB REQUIREMENTS:- Must possess a valid elementary teaching certificate.
PREFERENCES: - Literacy Expertise: Hold or be actively pursuing a state-recognized literacy endorsement.
- Science of Reading: Demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to evidence-based literacy instruction aligned with the Science of Reading.
- Commitment to inquiry-based, student-centered learning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Elementary Teacher will:
- Instructional and Curriculum Leadership: Design and implement high-quality, student-centered instruction aligned with state standards, high quality instructional materials, and evidence-based instructional practices.
- Assessment and Data Analysis: Regularly review student performance data (including universal screeners, and diagnostic assessments, State Assessments, and classroom-based assessments) to inform instruction, provide targeted interventions, and support student subgroups.
- Faculty Collaboration: Actively participate in school-based meetings, Collaborative Planning Time (CPT), and staff development to ensure a cohesive educational experience, with a specific focus on literacy alignment.
- Student Support: Foster a positive learning environment, manage classroom routines, maintain student discipline, and provide small group instruction tailored to diverse learning needs, particularly in reading, language arts, and math.
- Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strong, proactive relationships with students, parents, and community stakeholders.
- Professional Growth: Participate in required training and ongoing professional development, including, but not limited to STEM, literacy, and the Science of Reading, to stay current on best practices.
- School Improvement: Actively contribute to the school improvement process and ensure compliance with district, state (IDOE), and accreditation standards.
- Supervision and Events: Supervise student activities and participate in school-wide events, programs, and extracurricular activities as requested.
- Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate student records, manage classroom supplies, and follow procedures for the opening/closing of the school year.
- Other Duties: Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Principal or district administration.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:As per the district contract and Board of School Trustees policy.
EVALUATION:Performance on job requirements will be evaluated annually by the Principal in accordance with Board Policy and state evaluation models.
