About This Role

We are seeking a dependable and adaptable Floater Teacher to join our team at Ladder of Learning. As a Floater, you will provide critical support to our classrooms, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for our children. Your role will involve stepping into various age groups, assisting with daily routines, and helping to maintain a structured and organized learning space. A positive and professional attitude is essential for this position, as you will be building relationships with children, families, and staff. What You'll Do
  • Support Lead Teachers with daily routines, activities, and supervision to maintain a smooth and efficient learning environment
  • Provide classroom coverage for breaks, planning periods, and staff absences to ensure continuity of care
  • Supervise children during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
  • Assist with diapering, toileting, meals, and transitions to meet the physical and emotional needs of our children
  • Follow all center policies, DECAL regulations, and CACFP procedures to maintain a high level of quality care
  • Help keep classrooms clean, organized, and prepared for learning, reflecting the highest standards of our center
  • Build positive, professional relationships with children, families, and staff through effective communication and empathy
  • Communicate effectively with the administrative team regarding classroom needs and concerns
  • Participate in required trainings and staff meetings to stay up-to-date on best practices and center policies

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED

Experience working with children in a licensed childcare center is preferred but not required

Ability to step into any classroom (infants–preschool) with confidence and flexibility is essential for this role

Strong understanding of basic child development and age‑appropriate practices is necessary for providing high-quality care

Positive, professional attitude with strong communication skills is crucial for building relationships with children, families, and staff

Reliable, punctual, and able to adapt quickly to changing classroom needs is vital for this position

Ability to follow directions from Lead Teachers and administration is essential for maintaining a smooth learning environment

Must pass a comprehensive background check and meet all DECAL requirements

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and actively engage with children throughout the day is required

Comfortable assisting with diapering, toileting, meals, and transitions is necessary for meeting the physical and emotional needs of our children


Nice To Haves

We welcome applicants with experience in early childhood education or a related field, as well as those with a strong passion for working with young children.

Applicants with certifications in CPR, first aid, or other child-related fields are also encouraged to apply.
