Job description

About the Role
Little Scholars of Detroit is seeking a dependable and motivated Maintenance Personnel team member. 
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance, minor repairs, and general upkeep of building systems, classrooms, offices, playgrounds, and outdoor areas.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address safety, cleanliness, or maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Assist with plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, lighting, and general repair needs as assigned.
  • Ensure all indoor and outdoor areas are clean, safe, organized, and free from hazards.
  • Support classroom setup, furniture movement, event preparation, and facility organization.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff, administration, and program leadership.
  • Maintain maintenance equipment, tools, and supply inventory while reporting replacement needs.
  • Assist with seasonal duties including snow removal, salting walkways, and outdoor maintenance.
  • Monitor heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, and security systems for proper operation.
  • Work collaboratively with outside contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or facility projects.
  • Follow all Little Scholars of Detroit policies, OSHA safety standards, and Michigan childcare licensing regulations.
  • Support emergency preparedness efforts and ensure exits, hallways, and emergency routes remain clear at all times.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation preferred. 
  • Ability to pass required background checks and comply with all childcare licensing requirements.
