Job description

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable broadband connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From households to small businesses, schools, hospitals, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve communities and organizations operating in places without dependable internet access.
We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead the team responsible for building and owning the KMM INFRA and automation framework

This role sits at the intersection of people leadership, automation, data analytics, and wireless/embedded domain expertise, with the goal of democratizing embedded diagnostics and ensuring robust automated validation of LEO features across releases.
As the SDM for this team, you will hire, develop, and lead a team of SDEs building the KAIT Analyzer, a tool that leverages computational analysis against KMM infra and LEO system components , databases to systematically examine contacts, identify problem areas, and surface actionable insights. The tool will enable anyone across teams to run feature diagnostics without requiring deep domain expertise, delivering more consistent and thorough analysis than manual methods allow. You will also own the strategy and execution of the automation framework to ensure all features are continuously validated across releases with minimal manual intervention.
Key job responsibilities
People & Team Leadership
-Hire, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of SDEs focused on MAC analytics and automation
-Set technical direction and priorities, balancing short-term deliverables with long-term architectural investments
-Foster a culture of operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement
-Drive career development for team members, providing regular coaching and feedback
-Collaborate cross-functionally with MAC domain experts, release teams, and platform teams to align on roadmaps and dependencies
MAC Analytics
-Own the vision and delivery of the MAC Analyzer tool with ML-based anomaly detection and predictive capabilities, encoding experienced MAC engineer diagnostic methodologies into automated workflows that interface with SDN and telemetry databases
-Drive development of self-improving analytical pipelines that automate triage, root cause analysis, and reporting from raw telemetry data, trained on historical contact data and engineer patterns
-Ensure the team builds intuitive interfaces that make MAC diagnostics accessible to non-domain experts, continuously expanding coverage based on new failure modes and field observations
MAC Feature Automation
-Own the strategy and execution of an automated test framework covering MAC features (QoS, scheduling, grant handling, multicast, traffic shaping) integrated into the payload test framework and release qualification loop
-Drive automation of scenario-based testing for complex MAC configurations (simplex DL/UL combinations, MCS edge cases, burst handling) with traffic generation tools that replicate field conditions in lab environments
-Ensure the team delivers regression suites with comprehensive test coverage metrics, collaborating with the release team to ensure seamless integration into the release testing pipeline
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S

citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
