JOB OPPORTUNITY The Kings County Public Works Department is currently seeking qualified individuals for the position of: Equipment Serviceworker $42,806.40 - $52,249.60 Annually Step into a hands-on role where your mechanical skills keep Kings County's vehicles and equipment safe, reliable, and ready for action. As an Equipment Service Worker, you'll perform preventative maintenance, routine services, and minor repairs on County cars, trucks, and construction equipment. As a vital member of our Fleet Maintenance operation, you'll help ensure the performance of the equipment that supports essential public services

Performs preventative maintenance inspections of vehicles, trucks, and equipment as part of the Bi-annual Inspection of Terminals (B.I.T.) Program; makes minor repairs and adjustments

Performs engine tune-ups; refers major repairs to fleet mechanics or supervisory staff. Checks, drains, and replaces oil and oil filters, air cleaners, fuel, water and transmission filters. Checks, repairs or replaces batteries, lights, and tires; removes, inspects and assists the Fleet Mechanics in replacing spark plugs.

Inspects and makes repairs to air brakes, power steering, and hydraulic systems. Adjusts clutches and brakes. Fuels and lubricates vehicles, trucks, and other equipment.

Steam cleans equipment. Performs road repairs on vehicles and equipment. Keeps basic records of work performed, preventative maintenance data, gasoline, diesel fuel, oil, lubricants, and parts dispensed, timesheets, etc.

Picks up and delivers vehicles. Performs related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS **Minimum requirements must be met by the closing date** Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade. Experience: One (1) year of experience in servicing automotive and/or heavy equipment. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Licenses: Possession of a valid California driver's license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles at the time of appointment.

Possession of, or ability to obtain within the first 12 months of employment, a valid California Class B commercial driver's license with tanker endorsements and no restrictions, to be maintained throughout employment. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Qualify for security clearance through a background investigation and fingerprint check. Incumbents are required to submit to pre-employment, on-going random and other DOT-mandated drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment.

Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to frequently travel to outlying locations throughout the County and infrequent training outside of the County. SELECTION PROCESS: **EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER** All completed applications and supplemental questionnaires will be reviewed.
