Job description

Koniag Management Services (KMS), a Koniag Government Services (KGS) company is hiring a Vice President (VP) of Huntsville Strategic Growth in the Huntsville, AL area.

We offer competitive compensation and an extraordinary benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401 (k) with company matching, flexible spending accounts, paid holidays, three weeks of paid time off, and more.

The Vice President (VP) of Huntsville Strategic Growth is responsible for leading the strategic expansion of Koniag Government Services' footprint within the Huntsville, Alabama defense and federal market, with an explicit focus on Redstone Arsenal tenants. In this senior leadership role, you will drive revenue growth by identifying new opportunities, building key customer relationships across DoD agencies, and navigating the specialized corporate defense sector to forge strategic teaming agreements. By combining aggressive business development with targeted marketing and an advanced understanding of the Department of War (DOW), you will shape growth strategies, oversee large-scale captures, and position KGS as a premier defense contractor in the Tennessee Valley region.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Growth & Planning

  • Develop and execute an aggressive, multi-year growth strategy for the Tennessee Valley/Huntsville region, aligning with corporate goals to capture new markets across prominent Redstone Arsenal commands.
  • Apply detailed operational knowledge of the local corporate defense sector to identify, vet, and secure strategic teaming partners (large and small businesses) for joint ventures and sub/prime relationships.
  • Align company technical capabilities with the specific modernization and weapon system lifecycles managed by Huntsville-based defense activities.
  • Prepare and manage operational growth budgets, track capture pipelines, and maximize Return on Investment (ROI) on Bid & Proposal (B&P) expenditures.

Marketing

  • Position KGS as a premier thought leader through regional media relations, strategic press releases, and targeted digital content alignment.
  • Maintain a highly visible presence within the corporate defense sector, leveraging marketing channels to highlight KGS's technical expertise, rapid delivery capacity, and contract vehicle accessibility.

Customer Relationship Management & Networking

  • Act as the primary champion for KGS in Huntsville, building and nurturing deep relationships with key government decision-makers, DoD stakeholders, and industry executives.
  • Represent KGS at major regional defense forums (e.g., MDA, AUSA, NDIA, SMDC Symposium) and local community/industry days to advocate for company capabilities and drive teaming opportunities.

Capture & Proposal Leadership

  • Lead the full lifecycle of capture and proposal development for high-priority opportunities, ensuring compelling, compliant, and differentiated, solution-focused proposals.
  • Incorporate explicit Department of War (DOW) acquisition updates, rapid fielding priorities, and technical compliance requirements into winning proposal strategies.
  • Coordinate proposal efforts internally and externally, ensuring all messaging aligns with overarching strategic, marketing, and PR goals.

Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership

  • Monitor competitive intelligence and industry trends to inform strategy, maintaining real-time awareness of evolving local command structures and procurement mechanisms.
  • Identify long-term federal procurement opportunities and maintain a robust, formal opportunity pipeline database.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience: 10-15+ years of combined experience in federal business development, capture, and strategic marketing/PR within the Huntsville/DoW sector.
  • Domain Expertise: High-level, specialized knowledge of Redstone Arsenal tenants (e.g., Army Materiel Command, PEO Missiles and Space, Aviation and Missile Command, MDA, SMDC), Space and Missile Command and deep familiarity with the Department of War (DOW) landscape.
  • Teaming Network: Proven track record of navigating the corporate defense sector in Huntsville to secure lucrative teaming and joint venture agreements.
  • Track Record: Proven success in capturing large government contracts ($50M+), successfully directing targeted defense marketing strategies, and consistently exceeding revenue targets.
  • Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of the DoW procurement process, FAR/DFARS, local OTAs (Other Transaction Authorities), and rapidly evolving warfighting acquisition systems.
  • Skills: Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical solutions to diverse military and industry audiences.
