Heavy Equipment & Tank Trailer MechanicJob Summary

Keystops is seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment & Tank Trailer Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining tractors, tank trailers, and tank wagons to ensure safe and reliable operation. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with diesel equipment, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on tractors, tank trailers, and tank wagons.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and brake system issues.
  • Repair and replace engines, transmissions, suspensions, axles, and related components.
  • Inspect and maintain DOT-regulated equipment to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company standards.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and trailer repairs as needed.
  • Conduct tank inspections, valve repairs, hose replacements, and related tank equipment maintenance.
  • Complete service records, repair orders, and maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs when necessary.
  • Work closely with drivers, operations personnel, and management to minimize downtime.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience repairing heavy-duty trucks, tractors, tank trailers, or similar equipment.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, electrical systems, and hydraulic components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and repair documentation.
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
