Traveling Field Technician – Internal Floating Roofs

Keystone Tank Solutions is looking for dependable, mechanically inclined Field Technicians to join our traveling installation crews.

We specialize in the installation, repair, and maintenance of internal floating roofs, seal systems, and related equipment for aboveground storage tanks throughout the United States.

Previous tank or internal floating roof experience is a major plus, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person.

We're looking for people who are mechanically inclined, enjoy hands-on work, take pride in doing a job correctly, and are comfortable working as part of a small traveling crew.

Travel & Work Schedule

This is an extensive travel position.

Nearly all of our projects require overnight, out-of-town travel throughout the United States. Employees should be comfortable being away from home for extended periods.

Crews may remain on the road for 4–8 weeks at a time and occasionally longer, depending on project schedules.

Our typical target schedule while on a project is six 10-hour days per week (6x10s). Actual hours and schedules vary depending on the project, customer requirements, weather, and workload.

This is not a position where employees report to the same shop or office each day. Our Field Technicians travel to project locations as work requires.

What You'll Do

As a Field Technician, you'll work with a small crew performing specialized mechanical installation and repair work on aboveground storage tanks.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Install and repair internal floating roofs
• Install and repair primary and secondary tank seal systems
• Install related tank components and accessories
• Assemble mechanical components using hand and power tools
• Take measurements and perform basic mechanical layout
• Read and follow installation drawings, instructions, and project specifications
• Assist with material handling, equipment setup, and jobsite preparation
• Inspect components for proper fit and installation
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas
• Follow company and customer safety requirements
• Work closely with the crew foreman and other technicians to complete projects safely and efficiently

Experience

Previous floating roof or aboveground storage tank experience is preferred, but not required.

We are willing to train someone who demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

Relevant backgrounds may include:

• Industrial construction
• Millwright or mechanical work
• Mechanical or equipment installation
• Tank construction or maintenance
• Steel erection
• Industrial maintenance
• Commercial construction
• Other hands-on mechanical trades

Formal trade experience isn't required if you have good mechanical ability and are comfortable working with tools.

Requirements

Applicants must:

• Have a valid driver's license
• Be willing and able to travel extensively throughout the United States
• Be able to remain out of town for extended periods, including 6–8 weeks or longer
• Be able to pass required drug screening
• Be able to pass required background checks
• Be willing and able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) when required
• Be able to follow company, customer, and industrial safety requirements
• Be dependable and work effectively as part of a traveling crew

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

This is a physically demanding field position. Applicants must be able to:

• Regularly lift and carry 50–75 lbs.
• Climb ladders and access aboveground storage tanks
• Work at heights when required
• Work inside tanks and other confined or restricted spaces
• Bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in physically demanding positions
• Work outdoors in heat, cold, wind, and changing weather conditions
• Wear required PPE and safety equipment
• Work extended shifts and overtime as project schedules require

Who We're Looking For

You don't need to already know how to install an internal floating roof.

We can teach the technical side of the job. We're looking for mechanical ability, reliability, a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to travel.
