Job description

Amentum is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Clerk to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk performs a variety of warehousing duties which require an understanding of the facility storage plan, shipping procedures, personal computer operation, and the safe operation of warehouse equipment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Verify all items being received and/or shipped to or from the warehouse.
  • Remove material from storage and prepare for shipment, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages upon inspection of material.
  • Verify the accuracy of the daily receiving report/shipping log.
  • Store, stack or palletize materials in preparation for storage and/or shipment.
  • Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
  • File all paperwork per documented procedures.
  • May route incoming items within the company as directed.
  • Maintain related records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiar with proper packaging methods and ability to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and able to travel internationally.
  • Passport should be valid for at least one (1) year at the time of hire.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
  • Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in a shipping/receiving or warehouse environment preferred.
  • Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and customer service skills.
  • Valid country driver's license.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
