Position Information

EXAMINATION SCHEDULE: Qualified candidates will be notified of the testing date five days prior to the examination.

• Examination: Oral Exam (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of appraising the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position.
• The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials should there be an insufficient number of candidates to warrant an oral exam.
• Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.

Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards

• Possession of a letter of qualifications issued by the State of California, Department of Health Services, Environmental Health Services section, verifying applicant is eligible to enter an approved Environmental Health Specialist training program.

Additional Requirements

• Within 36 months from the date of employment, incumbents in the Environmental Health Specialist-in-Training classification are required to possess a valid certificate of registration as an Environmental Health Specialist, issued by the State of California Department of Health Services, Environmental Health Services section. Failure to obtain registration will result in termination of employment.
