ABC After-School Staff

Abilene Public Schools (USD #435), Abilene, KS, is currently seeking ABC After-School Staff.

Purpose: ABC Staff works with the Site Lead Teacher in the implementation of activities and active supervision of participants.

Responsible to: Lead Teacher, Principal/Site Coordinator, and Program Director

Payment rate: $15.00

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made).
  • Student centered.
  • Demonstrated success in working with students.
  • Willingness to take direction from a supervisor.
  • Willingness to collaborate with all ABC staff.
  • Desire to continue to enhance skills and job performance.

Essential Functions:

  • Support the implementation of ABC Program activities.
  • Active supervision of ABC students.
  • Develop positive and supportive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Support student learning during instructional and enrichment activities.
  • Assist with preparation of materials for activities.
  • Assist with clean-up of areas following activities.
  • Accept direction and feedback from Lead Teacher and Principal/Site Coordinator

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

  • Requires stooping, bending, kneeling, turning, and reaching.
  • Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Must be able to move and organize supplies that require ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments, with numerous interruptions.
  • Must provide indoor and outdoor student supervision during programming hours.

General Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work with and supervise groups of students.
  • Ability to assist individual children in need of special attention.
  • Ability to guide planned activities.
  • Ability to assist students with noninstructional classroom duties, such as snack, toilet, and clothing routines.
  • Ability to assist with reading and storytelling.
  • Ability to prepare and organize materials for planned activities.
  • Ability to observe and follow all school district policies.
  • Ability to respond to supervisor requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner.
  • Ability to keep student and personnel information and records confidential.
  • Ability to follow guidelines concerning the use of personal technology devices during student supervision.
  • Ability to implement and follow all District health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
  • Ability to perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as directed by the Lead Teacher, Principal/Site Coordinator, or Program Director.

Term of Employment: At will.

Evaluation: Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Kansas Statutes and Board of Education Policy.
