You will engage with clients in our outpatient setting, providing them with specialized mental health care tailored to their unique needs.

About the Organization

Located in Edison, New Jersey, Kelington Behavioral Services specializes in treating individuals affected by trauma, particularly those dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Our aim is to create a safe and nurturing environment, where trauma survivors can embark on their healing journeys. Our team is deeply committed to providing evidence-based therapies that foster resilience and promote recovery.

Work Environment

This position is fully remote, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Although work will primarily occur from a home office, you will engage in regular team meetings, case consultations, and professional development workshops with your colleagues. The work setting is collaborative and inclusive, ensuring that all team members have access to resources and support as they work to improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough trauma-informed mental health assessments for new patients, carefully evaluating their trauma history and current mental state to formulate appropriate treatment plans.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that focus on trauma recovery, employing evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
  • Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, empowering patients to process their experiences, cultivate coping strategies, and support each other in their healing journeys.
  • Work dynamically with psychiatrists and interdisciplinary professionals to ensure integrated and holistic care, coordinating services and referrals as needed.
  • Provide timely crisis intervention and support during trauma-related emergencies, utilizing your expert training to de-escalate situations and offer immediate assistance.
  • Educate patients and their families about trauma responses, equipping them with knowledge about coping mechanisms and connecting them to relevant resources.
  • Maintain precise and confidential documentation in compliance with all legal and ethical standards, ensuring that patient records are updated and reflective of the treatment provided.
  • Participate in case consultations and regular team meetings to share insights, ongoing challenges, and developments in trauma-informed practices.
  • Commit to continuous professional development, exploring current research and best practices in trauma therapy to enhance therapeutic techniques.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary clients will be individuals experiencing trauma-related disorders, including PTSD, and may include children, adolescents, and adults from diverse backgrounds. You will play a vital role in establishing trust and rapport with your patients, guiding them through their journey of healing in a compassionate and understanding manner.

Qualifications
  • A Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in New Jersey.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-related disorders and familiarity with trauma-informed treatment modalities.
Preferred Experience
  • At least 2 years of post-licensure experience in providing mental health services.
  • Direct experience delivering trauma-focused therapies, showcasing a track record of successful patient outcomes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a compassionate and non-judgmental approach.
  • Expertise in using electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently and effectively.
