Job Title: Electrician II

Position Summary
The Electrician II shall be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance, inspection, testing, etc. on all electrical systems and components of the facility. This position shall also assist the Electronic Security Technician, as necessary, in the preventive and corrective maintenance, inspection, testing, etc. of all fire and life safety systems, electronic security systems, etc.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain and repair all lighting throughout the facility and grounds
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance and repair of emergency lighting
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on emergency generator systems per manufacturer specifications
- Troubleshoot and repair telephone systems
- Troubleshoot and repair computer cable and punch down problems
- Maintain and repair electrical system components
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on all life safety systems and associated devices
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on UPS systems and components
- Coordinate outside contractors for contract work on associated systems
- Respond to on-call emergency repair work
- Complete corrective/preventive maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner
Other Functions:
- Assist other trades where necessary
- Maintain logs per ACA requirements
- Performs other duties as assigned
Competencies:
- Knowledge of the standard practices and methods of electrical trade; skill, care, and use of the tools required in the trade
Technical Skills:
- Ability to locate and correct defects in the facility's electrical systems and equipment
- Ability to read and work from blueprints and schematics for associated systems
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 3-6 years of professional experience relative to the role.
Preferred
- Licensing in applicable trade and jurisdiction
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with normal working hours Monday through Friday, working 40 hours per week. However, as business needs become necessary, after-hours, holidays, or weekends may be required.

No supervisory duties for this position.
Work Environment
This position is located within a correctional facility. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions. Must be able to work in hazardous conditions while maintaining safety standards, work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, industrial settings, and construction sites, and work in loud environments and temperature extremes.

Heavy work: Occasional lifting and carrying objects up to 75 pounds, Frequent lifting and carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and/or continuous lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 10-20 pounds.
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.
