Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior Accountant to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations while providing financial reporting and business analysis that supports strategic decision-making.

This role combines traditional accounting responsibilities with financial analysis, budgeting, cash flow management, and event profitability reporting. The ideal candidate enjoys creating order, improving processes, and producing accurate financial information while partnering with leadership to help drive the company's continued growth.

You will work closely with the Founder & CEO, department leaders, our outside CPA, and an external fractional controller to ensure financial accuracy, improve reporting, and strengthen financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

  • Own the day-to-day accounting function using QuickBooks Online.
  • Manage accounts receivable, billing, collections, and accounts payable.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Record Salesforce deposits and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Prepare journal entries and support monthly and year-end close.
  • Coordinate with the outside CPA on tax filings, audits, and financial reporting.

Event & Financial Management

  • Track revenue, direct costs, and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) by event, customer, destination, and business unit.
  • Ensure expenses are accurately allocated to the appropriate event and customer.
  • Maintain event- and school-level profitability reporting.
  • Investigate financial variances and reconcile event results.
  • Partner with Operations and Sales to ensure financial data is complete and accurate.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Monitor company cash flow and liquidity.
  • Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting.
  • Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and management reporting.
  • Analyze profitability, operating expenses, and financial trends.
  • Provide leadership with meaningful financial insights to support business decisions.

Process Improvement

  • Improve accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Help automate reporting and enhance financial visibility.
  • Support integrations between Salesforce and accounting systems.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and documentation.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong QuickBooks Online experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience managing month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, or profitability reporting.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong ownership and attention to detail.
  • Must be willing to work remotely for most of the year and travel approximately 4 times per year for company meetings and events.

Preferred

  • CPA or candidate.
  • Salesforce experience.
  • Experience in travel, hospitality, sports, events, or other service-based businesses.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Experience with Power BI or other reporting tools.

Success in This Role

The ideal candidate:

  • Takes ownership of the company's accounting function.
  • Produces timely, accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintains clean, audit-ready financial records.
  • Delivers reliable event profitability and financial analysis.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
  • Communicates proactively and builds strong relationships across departments.
  • Supports leadership with accurate financial information that drives better business decisions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Flexible work environment
  • Paid time off and holidays
