Location: This role can be done remotely from the US or Canada.
Please note: This search is being managed exclusively by KORE1. We are not accepting third-party agency submissions, C2C candidates, or external recruiting support for this opportunity. KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, has an immediate opening for a Technical Writer: Software / API projects (SOPs, FAQs, How-Tos, Systems Architectural Diagrams, etc)
The Technical Documentation Specialist partners closely with product, engineering, and operational teams to create clear, accurate, and user-focused technical documentation. Reporting to the Director of Technical Product Management, this role transforms complex technical concepts into accessible documentation that supports internal teams, partners, and stakeholders across the organization.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented communicator who enjoys learning new technologies, collaborating across disciplines, and building documentation that scales with evolving platforms and roadmaps.
Documentation & Content Development
  • Develop and maintain technical design documents, system architecture overviews, operating procedures, how-to guides, FAQs, and support documentation aligned to a defined product and delivery roadmap.
  • Translate complex technical concepts-including application architecture, database design, data management, systems integrations, and SaaS infrastructure-into clear, structured, and consumable documentation.
  • Create and maintain visual artifacts such as process flows, diagrams, charts, and system models to improve clarity and usability.
  • Perform other technical documentation and content development related tasks or functions as assigned.

Research, Elicitation & Collaboration
  • Select and execute effective information-gathering techniques (interviews, workshops, document reviews, hands-on system exploration) to elicit and capture accurate technical documentation and related business/operational processes.
  • Partner closely with architects, developers, QA, cybersecurity, technical product managers, business analysts, and operations teams to ensure technical accuracy and alignment.
  • Collaborate with delivery planning and project teams to align documentation priorities with strategic initiatives and release plans.
  • Maintain timely communication with leadership, peers and business partners, and promote a high-performing remote-work-friendly environment by being active, engaged, available and responsive during core business hours.

Content Governance & Quality
  • Maintain a structured, centralized technical documentation library with version control, approvals, sign-offs, and archival standards.
  • Ensure consistency of terminology, structure, and style across all technical documentation and teams.
  • Provide regular status updates, proactively manage dependencies, and escalate risks or blockers as needed.

Continuous Improvement
  • Stay current with technical products, platforms, and environments supported by the organization.
  • Share best practices, lessons learned, and documentation standards across teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to documentation processes, tooling, and knowledge management.

Job Requirements
Requirements:
  • Experience within healthcare, health insurance, healthcare technology, or other highly regulated industries preferred
  • Understanding of HIPAA, PHI, PII, compliance, and regulatory-driven development environments preferred
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Society for Technical Communication or equivalent) preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
  • 3-5 years of recent experience in a technical writing, technical documentation, or systems documentation role required
  • Experience developing and maintaining technical design documents, system architecture overviews, operating procedures, how-to guides, FAQs, and support documentation aligned to a defined product and delivery roadmap.
  • Experience documenting software-related projects including API initiatives
  • Understanding of systems integration concepts including APIs, REST/SOAP services, SaaS platforms, cloud infrastructure architectures (AWS, Azure), and application modernization initiatives
  • Exceptional English written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong research, analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge-elicitation and documentation gathering capabilities
  • Detail-oriented, curious, and motivated to continuously learn new technologies, systems, and business domains
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with highly technical, cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency with documentation and diagramming tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and query concepts (e.g., MS SQL) - no hands-on querying skills are required.
  • Familiarity with modern application development environments and tools such as Microsoft .NET, C#, Visual Studio, Git, and Azure DevOps/TFS

Compensation depends on experience but is typically $30-40/hr for US-based talent. Nearshore in Canada would be less.
