At Journey, we help our clients move forward with clarity and confidence—through better financials, smarter tax planning, and thoughtful business advice. As a Senior Associate on our Accounting & Tax team, you’ll play an integral role in reviewing team members’ accounts and helping business owners make sense of their numbers and navigate financial decisions year-round.

We’re looking for someone who has 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, enjoys reviewing and giving providing feedback on team members’ work, and is excited to grow in both accounting and tax. If you enjoy solving puzzles and building client relationships along the way, this might be the right fit.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and deliver monthly financial statements for clients across a variety of industries
• Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts with accuracy and attention to detail
• Provide clear, helpful communication around bookkeeping, payroll, and financial performance
• Review team members’ accounts and financial statements at the month ends to ensure accuracy prior to sending reports to clients
• Assist in training and onboarding new accounting and tax associates
• Support the preparation of tax returns for individuals and businesses
• Contribute to tax research and stay up-to-date on relevant accounting guidance
• Collaborate with clients on accounting, tax, and operational questions
• Play a key role in onboarding new clients and building lasting relationships
• Bring ideas to the table—especially around improving processes, services, or technology
• Promote firm services by building your network and contributing to firm growth

What You Bring

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
• 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
• CPA preferred, but not required
• A genuine interest in helping small business owners succeed
• Professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong sense of ownership
• Openness to learning and feedback, and a desire to keep improving
• Strong communication skills—both written and verbal
• The ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage deadlines
• Prior experience with client service

What to Expect

• Full time, in-person collaboration at our Naperville, IL office
• Limited time off during tax season (January 15 – April 15)
• Expectation of 50–55 hours/week during tax season, including some Saturdays
• Occasional travel (1–2 times/year) for conferences, client meetings, or team events
