Governance Specialist II

JOB FUNCTION:

The Governance Specialist II performs governance activities with increased autonomy, supporting procedural compliance, regulatory documentation governance, and customer communication activities while contributing to governance initiatives. Performs moderately complex compliance and governance activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory and operational requirements.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage procedural governance documentation and updates.
• Support legal and regulatory document governance activities.
• Communicate governance requirements to internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in governance reviews and compliance assessments.
• Analyze governance-related issues and recommend solutions.
• Support implementation of governance standards and controls.
• Collaborate with business partners across departments.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Work Experience

• 2-4 years of experience in shared services, operations, compliance, or risk management within a regulated industry.
• Demonstrated experience in procedure governance, documentation control, and regulatory alignment.
• Strong analytical background with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and support risk‑based decision making.
• Experience working in regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, or healthcare.
• Proven ability to resolve escalated issues and deliver strong customer service outcomes.
• Proficient in resource management, operational change management, and conflict resolution.

Education/Skills

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2 years of experience; OR
• 3 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• Ability to translate strategy into execution and drive operational excellence.
• Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
• Working knowledge of governance practices.
• Basic root cause analysis capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Low-level critical thinking requirements.
• Ability to work independently with limited oversight.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to speak, hear, read and write to engage in oral and written communication.
• Must be able to reach, bend and lift files up to 15 pounds.
• Must be able to sit for most of the day.
• Must be able to see a computer monitor and type on a keyboard.
• Must be mobile in an office environment.

Equipment/Machines/Software

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Experience with core banking systems and digital banking platforms.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment (computer, phone, copier, scanner).

Position Includes Driving

• Yes — occasional travel to banking centers or customer meetings may be required.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
