Role Description The Beef Packer Operations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Catonsville, MD, responsible for overseeing daily beef packing and processing operations. This role manages production schedules, supervises packing line staff, and ensures that all workflow meets safety, quality, and yield standards. The manager coordinates inventory of raw materials and finished products, monitors equipment performance, and collaborates with maintenance and logistics teams to avoid downtime and meet delivery timelines. Day-to-day tasks include training and coaching team members, enforcing food safety and workplace safety procedures, reviewing production reports, and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste. The role also involves communication with senior leadership regarding output, staffing needs, compliance issues, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Experience in meat packing, food processing, or related manufacturing operations, with a strong understanding of beef cutting, packing, and product flow.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and workplace safety standards relevant to meat processing environments.
  • Operations management skills, including scheduling, workflow planning, resource allocation, and production reporting.
  • Leadership abilities to supervise teams, provide training and feedback, resolve conflicts, and foster a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement practical solutions.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members, cross-functional departments, suppliers, and management.
  • Comfort working in a cold, fast-paced production environment, with the physical ability to stand for extended periods and navigate production areas safely.
  • Prior experience in beef or meat packing operations management is preferred; a relevant technical or vocational background in food science, agribusiness, or operations is beneficial.
