Job description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Maritime Supply Chain SME to provide senior NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (WSS) supply chain expertise in support of the design and development of an AI-enabled Supply Operations Center. This role will bring functional knowledge of maritime supply operations and work closely with JMA and government technical teams to help ensure the solution reflects how NAVSUP WSS stakeholders make and execute supply chain decisions. The SME will also support process improvement and future enterprise architecture activities as the project evolves.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maritime Supply Chain Expertise & Process Improvement
    • Serve as the maritime supply chain subject matter expert for NAVSUP WSS operations, including material planning, buy/repair decisions, inventory positioning, Fleet support, contracting, repair, and readiness management.
    • Evaluate current-state workflows, decision points, business rules, data dependencies, pain points, and manual workarounds to identify opportunities for process improvement.
    • Develop and validate operational personas and target-state workflows for key Supply Operations Center users, including Supply Chain Planners, Contracting Officers, engineering personnel, and IWST leadership.
  • Requirements, System Design & AI Validation
    • Collaborate with technical SMEs to design and refine the AI/ML-enabled solution based on operational requirements and supply chain needs.
    • Translate operational requirements, decision logic, and information needs into user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, data specifications, and test scenarios.
    • Validate AI-generated insights, predictive analytics, courses of action, and model outputs against NAVSUP WSS operational practices, Navy Working Capital Fund (NWCF) requirements, and Fleet readiness needs.
  • Testing, Delivery & Cross-Functional Support
    • Support prototype and demonstration development, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), test-case creation, functional defect triage, and operational KPI and readiness metric development.
    • Support related project activities, including data validation, sprint planning, and other cross-functional needs within the maritime supply chain domain.
    • Participate in enterprise architecture mentorship and related architecture and process transformation activities as project needs evolve.
    • Carry out other related duties as assigned to support evolving client, project, and company needs.

Clearance Level:

  • Current or ability to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance is required. Note: To obtain a security clearance, you must be a U.S. citizen and meet the 13 adjudicative guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • 8+ years of Navy/DoD supply chain, logistics, inventory management, or weapon-system sustainment experience.
    • Direct NAVSUP WSS maritime supply chain experience, with comprehensive knowledge of material planning, repair cycles, procurement, inventory positioning, and Fleet support decision-making.
    • Working knowledge of Navy Working Capital Fund (NWCF) supply and inventory management processes.
  • Education/Certification:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to serve as the primary subject matter expert for the maritime supply chain domain while supporting related cross-functional project needs.
    • Ability to engage operational users and senior leaders, facilitate working sessions, collaborate with technical teams, and translate complex supply chain operations into clear requirements.
    • Strong knowledge of NAVSUP WSS maritime supply chain operations, including Fleet readiness, weapon-system sustainment, supply planning, buy/repair decision-making, and inventory positioning.
    • Experience analyzing business processes and identifying opportunities for process improvement and transformation.
    • Experience developing operational personas, use cases, requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
    • Experience developing or using supply chain KPIs, readiness metrics, or related operational analytics.
    • Familiarity with Navy ERP, IRAS, or related enterprise logistics systems and data.
    • Understanding of AI-enabled decision support, predictive analytics concepts, and how they may be applied within supply chain operations.
    • Knowledge of enterprise logistics data structures and how operational data supports supply chain decision-making.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Navy or NAVSUP experience supporting Surface/Submarine Supply, Fleet Logistics, Type Commander (TYCOM) staff, or NAVSUP WSS Mechanicsburg operations.
  • Direct experience using Navy ERP, IRAS, or related NAVSUP legacy supply systems and data.
  • Experience with demand forecasting, inventory optimization, allowancing, repairables management, digital transformation, ERP modernization, or AI/predictive analytics in supply chain operations.
  • Master’s degree, DAWIA Life Cycle Logistics credential, or equivalent advanced logistics experience.


Location & Commitments:

  • Position: Full Time
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid – On-site at our client site in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The number of days on-site will be determined by client needs after hire.
  • Travel Requirements: May be required
  • Location Preference: Must reside within a 50-mile radius of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, due to the on-site/hybrid nature of the position.
  • Work Hours: A typical workday consists of eight hours, totaling a forty-hour workweek. We understand that there may be times when employees will need to adjust their work hours due to client needs or personal reasons. To help balance these demands, we offer some flexibility in work schedules.
