Mainframe Computer Operator / Shift Lead

Location: Washington, DC
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Shifts: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM or 3:00 PM–11:30 PM
Employment Type: Full-Time
Anticipated Start: December 2026
Starting Compensation: $27.78 - 30.48/hour, plus applicable benefits and fringe

Position Summary

JLGOV is seeking experienced Mainframe Computer Operators to support onsite production operations in a federal mainframe data center. This role requires direct experience with production printing, JCL/TSO operations, job monitoring, troubleshooting, and Production Control support.

Required Qualifications

  • Mainframe or enterprise data center operations experience.
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed laser printers, impact printers, and bursters.
  • Working knowledge of JCL and TSO/ISPF.
  • Experience submitting, monitoring, tracking, and troubleshooting production jobs.
  • Production Control or batch-processing experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot routine printer and processing issues.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work the full onsite shift.

Core Duties

  • Operate production printers and bursters.
  • Load paper, toner, developer, and forms.
  • Submit and monitor jobs using JCL within TSO/ISPF.
  • Organize and route completed print output.
  • Support Production Control activities.
  • Escalate equipment or system issues.
  • Maintain an orderly production area and support shift continuity.

Shift Lead Duties

Shift Leads perform all operator duties and also coordinate shift activities, monitor work completion, support turnover, and escalate unresolved issues.

Preferred Experience

  • Federal data center experience.
  • High-volume production printing.
  • Prior Computer Operator, Production Control Operator, Data Center Operator, or Shift Lead experience.
  • Experience working from SOPs, run books, or production schedules.

Additional Requirements

  • 100% onsite in Washington, DC.
  • No remote or hybrid work.
  • Must successfully complete required background screening, credit review, and drug testing.
  • Employment is contingent upon contract award and Government onboarding requirements.

General help desk, desktop support, or cybersecurity experience alone does not meet the core requirements.
