Job description

License and Certification Qualifications:

  • Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator's Certificate in Educational Leadership and/or Support Personnel License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission Required

Education Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field Required
  • Master's Degree in related field Preferred

Experience Qualifications:

  • 3 years preferred experience and expertise with Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) instruction/JROTC/JLC at multiple levels with proven leadership in development and implementation of curricular content Required
  • Experience in the design and delivery of professional development to support research-based best practices in instructional methodology and experience working with business and community agencies preferred, Experience as a JROTC (Junior Reservce Officers' Training Corps) or JLC (Junior Leadership Corps) instructor Preferred

Primary Responsibilities:
Provide leadership to plan, direct, and implement Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) programs and support the implementation of College and Career Academies.




  • Organize, develop, and administer the JROTC and JLC programs within the district during the school year and summer break.
  • Facilitate professional development for JROTC and JLC instructors.
  • Provide guidance and support for special programs under Academies and Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) (i.e. Junior Leadership Corps and JROTC).
  • Collaborate with coordinators and instructional coaches in the Teaching and Learning Division to develop and implement cross curricular curriculum.
  • Oversee the development of instructional calendars, common assessments, and other curriculum supports.
  • Organize, coordinate, and direct JROTC and JLC activities in the district (i.e. drill, rifle, academic competitions, service-learning projects, awards ceremonies, military balls, JLCs, and other activities).
  • Provide monitoring and coordination with principals to ensure that the goals of JROTC and JLC are reached at every school.
  • Provide school officials and units guidance before and after inspections.
  • Assist with recruiting, developing, and maintaining business and community partnerships.
  • Serve on local school advisory committees.
  • Assist schools with securing and maintaining JROTC units and JLC programs.
  • Collaborate with the office director to complete routine and unique projects that support JROTC/JLC programs in GCPS.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
