Job description

SUMMARY:AURA is a MGA (managing general agent)/specialty lines wholesaler, selling umbrella liability and other P&C (property and casualty) insurance products for real estate risks.This position is responsible for the underwriting, rating, binding and servicing of accounts assigned to them in a prompt, accurate, courteous and professional manner. This includes providing the necessary support to the overall production and profit objectives of the program.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Maintain up to date and adhere to all AURA and carrier's processing procedures.Maintain up to date knowledge of all items in AURA Underwriting Guidelines, including underwriting and rating changes.Refer accounts to carriers when risk are "outside" the underwriting boxRespond to all brokers inquiries in a professional and timely manner.Review and process all incoming mail for assigned accounts.Document all correspondence and phone calls in our agency management system.Underwrite accounts to ensure compliance with our guidelines and discuss risks "outside the box" internally for possible referral to carrier(s).Market accounts when necessary, and monitor status of quotes to make sure "need by date" and deadlines are met.Quote accounts and present timely proposals to brokers.Review bind requests and binding documents received from brokers, to assure adherence to the program requirements.Request policies issuance as requested by broker.Process legal notice of non-renewal or cancellation when necessary.Assist in training other employees at management's request.Maintain positive relationships with appropriate company representatives through proper contacts and effective communication.Provide assistance to Technical Support team, Assistant Underwriters or company Underwriters as necessary, in preparation of policy or endorsement processing.Share all new company information/changes with department.Adhere to all ethical and State Insurance Department guidelines and procedures.Participate in seminars and other training to maintain required licenses and for knowledge and skill development in a timely manner (minimum 45 days prior to expiration).Report to manager need for updates to websites, letters, training, etc.Willing and able to travel (1-2 times per year or as required by management).Perform other duties as requested at the direction of management.QUALIFICATIONS:Education: College degree preferred; High School diploma or equivalent requiredValid Florida Property & Casualty/General Lines insurance license preferred (FL 2-20)Minimum 5+ years insurance underwriting experienceExperience wholesaling and/or underwriting real estate risks a plusKnowledge of commercial insurance and products essentialComputer systems and operations knowledge and skills requiredGood listening/writing skills and overall good communication skills a must.Excellent attention to detail requiredProfessional designation a plus
