Lead the Crew. Build the Infrastructure.
JGR Development Group is seeking an experienced Utility Crew Foreman to lead underground utility crews on water, sewer, and storm drainage projects throughout North Carolina. This position is responsible for supervising daily field operations, coordinating manpower and equipment, maintaining production schedules, and ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with project plans and specifications.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader with extensive underground utility experience who can manage crews, communicate effectively with project managers and inspectors, and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise underground utility crews installing water, sewer, and storm drainage systems.
- Read and interpret construction plans, profiles, specifications, and utility drawings.
- Coordinate daily work activities with project management, subcontractors, inspectors, and utility owners.
- Schedule and direct labor, equipment, and material deliveries.
- Ensure proper line and grade are maintained throughout installation.
- Oversee installation of:
- Water mains
- Sanitary sewer mains and services
- Storm drainage systems
- Manholes
- Catch basins
- Hydrants
- Valves
- Utility structures and appurtenances
- Conduct daily safety meetings and maintain OSHA compliance.
- Enforce trench safety requirements and jobsite safety procedures.
- Complete daily reports, production tracking, and documentation.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, and utility tie-ins.
- Troubleshoot field issues and make decisions to keep projects moving efficiently.
- Ensure work meets project specifications and quality standards.
- Train and mentor pipe layers, laborers, and equipment operators.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of underground utility construction experience.
- Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
- Strong experience with water, sewer, and storm drainage installation.
- Ability to read plans, profiles, cut sheets, and grades.
- Knowledge of OSHA trench safety regulations.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate crews, equipment, and production schedules.
- Experience working with municipal utility projects and public infrastructure preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- CDL preferred.
