Job description

Job Title: Rough Framer / Experienced Construction Laborer

J.Nelson Construction is seeking a motivated, hard-working Rough Framer or an experienced Construction Laborer to join our crew. We specialize in residential building, including new homes, additions, custom home construction, siding, and custom concrete installation. If you have hands-on experience in carpentry or general job site labor, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Structure Framing: Measure, cut, and assemble lumber to construct the wood framework of residential homes, including subfloors, walls, roofs, and rafters.
  • Site Preparation & Labor: Assist with custom concrete pours, layout, and job site setup or teardown.
  • Exterior Installations: Install exterior siding and sheathing according to blueprints and building codes.
  • Tool Operation: Safely operate hand tools, power tools, framing guns, and cutting saws.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the lead carpenter and crew members to maintain efficient production and high-quality craftsmanship.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of residential framing, carpentry, or heavy construction labor experience.
  • Skill Set: Ability to read tape measures accurately, handle physical layouts, and understand basic blue prints.
  • Physical Stamina: Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs, climb ladders, work on roofs, and stand for long periods in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Reliability: Dependable transportation to get to changing job sites on time is required.
  • Tools: Owning basic personal framing tools (tool belt, hammer, tape measure, speed square) is highly preferred.

J.Nelson Construction, will expand your skillset, tackle complex custom projects, learn more every day, and push yourself to become the best in the trade.Core ResponsibilitiesRough framing: Execute precise layout, framing, and roofing structures for custom homes, additions, and complex residential additions.Exterior finishing: Install various siding materials, trim, windows, and doors to meet exact architectural specifications and weatherproofing standards.Custom concrete installation: Assist with or lead custom concrete work, including formwork, pouring, and finishing for foundations, slabs, or decorative features.Blueprint reading: Interpret architectural prints, specifications, and building codes to ensure flawless project execution.Safety & leadership: Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant job site while mentoring and guiding apprentice crew members.Job QualificationsExperience: Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in residential carpentry, rough framing, or general construction.Skillset: Strong proficiency in standard carpentry tools, framing techniques, exterior siding, and basic concrete work.Attributes: A detail-oriented mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a dedication to continuous learning and professional growth.Logistics: Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and your own basic hand tools
