We are currently looking for a registered nurse to join our wound care team in the north east Nashville and southern Kentucky areas.


Job Summary:


The Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients with acute, chronic, and non-healing wounds. The RN collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to assist in developing individualized treatment plans that promote wound healing, prevent complications, and improve patient outcomes. This role also provides education to patients, families, and staff regarding wound prevention and management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive wound and skin assessments.
  • Implement, and evaluate individualized wound care treatment plans developed by the wound APP.
  • Perform wound care procedures, including dressing changes, debridement assistance, and negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), according to facility protocols.
  • Monitor wound healing progress and document patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on wound prevention, treatment, nutrition, and home care.
  • Identify patients at risk for pressure injuries and implement preventive interventions.
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for wound care best practices and provide staff education as needed.

Requirements:


Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Wound Care Certification (WCC, CWCN, CWON, or equivalent) preferred or required based on employer.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience; wound care experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of wound assessment, pressure injury prevention, and evidence-based wound management.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds with assistance as needed.
  • Manual dexterity to perform wound care procedures.
  • Ability to work in a clinical environment with exposure to infectious diseases while following appropriate safety precautions.
