This hands-on engineering role will focus on boiler systems, steam distribution, hot water systems, and glycol-based cooling systems, taking projects from concept through design, equipment specification, installation, and commissioning. You’ll play a key role in delivering reliable, efficient, and high-performing systems that support complex operations.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with internal engineering teams, project managers, vendors, and clients - helping bring technically sound, practical solutions to life while supporting Sharpe’s commitment to quality and operational excellence.

Industrial Mechanical System Design (Primary Focus)
  • Design and support industrial boiler systems, steam and condensate return systems, hot water heating systems, and glycol-based cooling systems
  • Perform load calculations, heat transfer analysis, equipment sizing, and pump and piping design
  • Prepare PFDs, P&IDs, system layouts, and equipment specifications
  • Assist in selecting boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, expansion tanks, controls, and related components, preferred
  • Develop designs that prioritize reliability, serviceability, energy efficiency, and long-term performance
Project Execution & Technical Support
  • Execute engineering tasks aligned with project scope, schedule, and budget of systems
  • Prepare and review equipment specifications and vendor submittals of systems
  • Provide technical problem-solving and design recommendations
  • Support commissioning, field testing, troubleshooting, and installation activities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure compliance with ASME, NFPA, and applicable mechanical and industrial standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering standards and workflows
  • Maintain accurate documentation and revision control
Why Join Sharpe?

At Sharpe, you’ll join a people-centric organization built on collaboration, integrity, and responsibility. For more than 30 years, we’ve helped industrial and food & beverage manufacturers improve how their systems operate, bringing practical engineering solutions to complex challenges.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Work on high-impact infrastructure systems that power real-world operations
  • Be part of a collaborative, hands-on engineering team
  • Continue to grow your technical expertise and project ownership
  • Contribute to a company that values innovation, accountability, and people
What We’re Looking For Education & Experience
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Experience in designing industrial boiler systems, steam/hydronic systems, or glycol cooling systems
  • Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments preferred
  • EIT certification preferred; PE license is a plus
Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of steam generation, hydronic heating, and glycol-based systems
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Ability to develop and review PFDs and P&IDs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
