Job description

Senior Tax Associate
Elmira, New York

Insero Talent Solutions is partnering with a growing financial services firm in the Southern Tier in search of a Senior Tax Associate to join their team. The Associate will work with the Tax and Investment Teams to develop tax strategies, tax preparation and tax planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and reviews complex Federal and state income tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships and corporations.
  • Provide support in all aspects of the tax planning process to aid management. This will primarily involve identifying opportunities to minimize tax burdens and providing detailed analyses and recommendations.
  • Research tax matters and summarize conclusions and rationale. Research will primarily focus on Federal individual tax issues, but may periodically involve trust, corporate, pass-through and tax-exempt entities, as well as some state tax issues.
  • Reviews and analyzes bookkeeping records to ensure accuracy, completeness and alignment with tax reporting requirements for clients receiving bookkeeping or tax services.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly or year-end journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting and GAAP compliance.
  • Assists in audit preparation and representation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economic degree - with tax coursework.
  • One of the following professional certifications is required:
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
    • Enrolled Agent (EA)
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in tax and strategic tax planning
  • Familiarity with professional tax software such as Lacerte, CCH or GoSystem Tax RS
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks desktop and online
  • Highly self-motivated.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
