Job description
Inroads is a company that applies data, analytics, technology, research, and content development to revolutionize the delivery of complex services. The Senior Associate, Analytics will work with a team to create data models, manage data quality, and support web applications to improve access to affordable healthcare.
Responsibilities:
• Create SQL-based data models in dbt. This includes working with data engineers, data scientists, and data analysts both to refactor legacy code, and to build new data transformations that meet business requirements for clients and consumers.
• Collaborate with analytics, product, and domain stakeholders to translate business needs into well-modeled datasets.
• Work closely with Data Engineers to transition analytical logic into optimized warehouse queries, learning about database performance tuning and data warehouse architecture (e.g., Snowflake) on the job.
• Implement data quality checks (dbt tests, sources, freshness) and contribute to monitoring data reliability.
• Maintain clear documentation for datasets, lineage, and transformation logic.
• Query the data warehouse using SQL to answer urgent business questions, identify trends, and provide data-backed recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders.
• Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports (using Report-as-Code, Positron, and Tableau) to track key business metrics and performance indicators.
• Gain a deep understanding of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and its regulatory frameworks, learning how policy mandates, marketplace changes, and compliance rules directly impact enrollment behavior and messaging to consumers.
• Investigate data discrepancies to identify patterns and find solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers, data analysts, data scientists, program managers, and external stakeholders to troubleshoot problems and proactively create solutions.
• Take ownership of task areas and strive to independently resolve challenges in order to deliver accurate products on short deadlines.
• Complete such other reasonable tasks as may be assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 2+ years of applied experience working with structured/unstructured data.
• An undergraduate degree or higher in a quantitative field or equivalent technical training.
• Strong understanding of how to manipulate data using dbt, SQL, and Python.
• Experience optimizing data models for query efficiency.
• Ability to deeply research both the business logic of ingested data as well as the business logic needed to build derivative data products. Comfort with performing independent discovery.
• Interest in investigating problems, solving puzzles, and finding patterns in complex data, as well as proposing solutions that improve both technical performance and end user satisfaction.
• Comfort working independently to drive portions of larger projects, using organizational objectives and sound judgment to guide your work.
• Experience working in an Agile work environment, reviewing others’ work, and a strong grasp of version control (i.e., git).
• Passion in applying your skills to our social mission to solve problems and collaborate within a cross-functional team environment.
• The ability to successfully attain and maintain a Federal Public Trust security clearance, as required by our government clients; this includes a background investigation and a requirement that the individual has U.S. Citizenship or U.S. residency for three of the past five years (36 of the past 60 months). Resumes should specify residency information for the past 5 years of experience.
Preferred:
• Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, or Marketplace data and systems
• Experience working with workflow execution engines, such as Airflow.
• Navigating cloud data environments like Snowflake, Google BigQuery, or AWS Redshift.
