Work Environment

This position is remote, offering a flexible work setting that allows you to manage your schedule while still being part of a dedicated healthcare team. You will have a standard workweek from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, providing you with a structured yet adaptable framework to support your personal life and professional commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying their specific emotional and psychological care needs.
  • Deliver tailored individual and group counseling sessions that address the unique challenges of aging and life transitions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to create comprehensive and personalized care plans aimed at improving patient outcomes.
  • Educate family members and healthcare staff on effective strategies to foster emotional well-being among elderly clients.
  • Provide specialized grief and loss counseling to help residents and their families navigate end-of-life issues with compassion and sensitivity.
  • Implement cognitive stimulation programs and evidence-based mental health interventions designed to enhance cognitive functions and quality of life.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal mental health outcomes.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with elderly individuals, many of whom face complex mental health challenges stemming from age-related issues, including anxiety, depression, grief, and adjustment disorders. Your work will directly impact their quality of life, helping them to manage emotions and navigate transitions in their later years. The role requires a deep understanding of geriatric mental health and a genuine passion for enhancing the lives of older adults.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
  • A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
  • A minimum of 4 years of recent experience in geriatric counseling or mental health support.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based interventions for older adults.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct nuanced assessments and develop individualized treatment approaches.
  • Solid understanding of ethical and legal standards in geriatric mental health counseling.
Preferred Experience
  • Specialization or additional training in geriatric mental health.

Compensation and Benefits
