Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate the symptoms and conditions impacting clients, including the intensity and duration of mood disorder symptoms.
• Collaborate with clients to formulate personalized treatment plans tailored to their unique needs, preferences, and goals.
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to facilitate healing and coping strategies.
• Provide psychoeducation to clients and their families regarding mood disorders, treatment options, and effective self-care practices.
• Monitor and document client progress meticulously, adjusting treatment plans as necessary based on their evolving needs and circumstances.
• Foster integrated care by coordinating treatment with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals involved in client care.
• Stay informed on the latest developments and research in the treatment of mood disorders, implementing new strategies to enhance service delivery.
• Ensure the utmost confidentiality and compliance with legal and ethical standards in client documentation and management.
• Participate in regular case consultations and team meetings to foster professional development and collaborative care strategies.
• Advocate for clients, addressing mental health stigma and ensuring their voices are heard in treatment planning and community integration.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will predominantly involve working with individuals battling mood disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety. You will also support marginalized populations, including homeless individuals, refugees, and victims of domestic abuse, providing them with vital resources and therapeutic interventions as they navigate their recovery journeys.

Qualifications

• A current and active state license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is required.
• A Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a related field is mandatory.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with clients.
• Demonstrated empathy, understanding, and a nonjudgmental approach to client interactions.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively to ensure optimal care delivery.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with diverse populations and understanding the unique challenges they face.
• Familiarity with addiction therapy and recovery processes is advantageous.
• Previous experience in a community health clinic or similar settings is a plus.
