Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position averaging 20–29 hours a week or less than 30 hours. Overtime may be required. Days and hours vary based on the needs of the home. Schedule may also vary based on organizational needs at the discretion of the direct supervisor and/or CEO.
Summary
The Residential Support Staff provides support, care, treatment, and development of residents in a variety of settings, including licensed adult foster care group homes (general or specialized), transitional training residences, and housing for semi-independent living.
Essential Functions
(Not exhaustive; other duties may be assigned.)
Persons Served
- Ensure residents are granted all rights and respect due them
- Help residents create and maintain a comfortable, homelike environment
- Assist residents in meeting goals as outlined in the individual plan of service, including:
- Social skills and community integration
- Grooming and hygiene (bathing, toileting, dressing)
- Daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry
- Accompany residents to appointments, programs, and activities
- Administer medications and treatments
- Prepare food per individualized dietary needs
Household and Documentation
- Perform housekeeping duties (cooking, cleaning, laundry)
- Complete documentation (medication logs, daily logs, program data, incident reports, etc.)
Education/Talent Requirements
- Ability to attend training and staff meetings (primarily during business hours, with some evenings/weekends)
- Ability to read/write English, follow instructions, and document information
- Capacity to work independently or in a team with intermittent supervision
- Respectful, courteous demeanor with diverse individuals
- Solid reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills
- Must pass all required background checks and physicals
Work Experience
- Prior residential or direct care experience preferred, but training provided
Travel
Up to 25%. Transportation supplied. Travel may include accompanying residents to medical appointments, meetings, or community activities. Primarily local; some out-of-county travel possible.
Work Environment
- Majority of time indoors in a residential environment, occasional outdoor work in all seasons
- Close proximity to people; direct care setting
Physical Demands
- Medium work (lifting up to 50 lbs; frequent lifting up to 25 lbs)
- Assist residents with transfers in/out of vehicles, wheelchairs, beds, etc.
- Provide personal care and household duties
- Specific vision requirements: close vision, ability to adjust focus
- Manual dexterity for food prep, medication, documentation
- Must be able to perform emergency procedures and evacuations as required
