Abundance Health Care is seeking a dedicated and motivated Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our dynamic general surgery team in Reading, Pennsylvania. This full-time position involves providing comprehensive care across various settings including inpatient, outpatient, pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative environments. Work Environment

This position is situated onsite at our hospital facility, which is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and resources to support high-quality patient care. Key Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of a licensed physician, the Physician Assistant will independently evaluate and manage patients, providing direct care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Conduct thorough assessments of patients' health, including taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, and interpreting diagnostic tests.
• Develop, implement, and modify treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising surgeon, ensuring alignment with best practices and patient needs.
• Engage in daily rounding, write orders, facilitate hospital admissions and discharges, and offer pre-operative and post-operative education to patients and their families.
• Assist in surgical operations and perform specified minor procedures, demonstrating proficiency in both laparoscopic and robotic techniques as part of the surgical team.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with institutional policies and regulatory standards.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall patient care experience.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Physician Assistant will serve a varied patient population encompassing individuals of all ages requiring general surgical interventions. This role prioritizes high-quality care and patient education, emphasizing the importance of informed decision-making and recovery support in both clinic settings and during hospital stays.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited institution.
• Current board certification as a Physician Assistant.
• Active state licensure as a Physician Assistant in Pennsylvania.
• Possession of a DEA License for the prescription of medications.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification is required within the first 12 months of hire.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant in a surgical or hospital medicine setting is preferred, particularly with experience in operating room assistance (laparoscopy and robotic surgery).
• Experience in handling both acute and chronic patient conditions, providing a comprehensive view of patient needs throughout the surgical process.
• A solid understanding of surgical workflows and protocols, including patient education and post-operative care strategies.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from $140,000 to $180,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Abundance Health Care offers a competitive benefits package, including:
