Job description

Job Title: CNC Programmer/Machinist

Location: Glendale, AZ

Company Overview:

Ignova Mechanical specializes in precision machining and gasket manufacturing, delivering mission-critical components for the Aerospace & Defense industry. Our high-quality products meet the industry’s most stringent standards, ensuring reliability and performance in demanding applications. At Ignova Mechanical, we are driven by a relentless pursuit of delivering mission-critical products with exceptional customer experience.

Job Summary:

Ignova Mechanical is seeking a highly skilled CNC Programmer/Machinist to join our production team. This role requires full capability in setup, programming, operation, and in-process inspection of 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills and CNC lathes. We are looking for a craftsman — not just an operator — who can consistently deliver tight tolerance, high-complexity parts with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program in MasterCam or Espirit Edge, set-up, and operate CNC mills (3-, 4-, and 5-axis) and CNC lathes to manufacture precision aerospace components.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and tight tolerance specifications.
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixturing, and machining strategies to maximize quality and efficiency.
  • Perform thorough in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, and CMMs as required.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and proactively adjust setups or programs to maintain quality and throughput.
  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail throughout machining, inspection, and documentation processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams on continuous improvement of part manufacturability and process optimization.
  • Maintain equipment, tooling, and workspaces to the highest standards of cleanliness and functionality.
  • Follow strict aerospace safety, quality, and production procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience with proven expertise in multi-axis milling and lathe operations.
  • Extensive hands-on experience setting up, programming, and operating 5-axis mills (e.g., Haas, DMG Mori, Mazak, or similar).
  • Expert-level ability to read blueprints, GD&T, and aerospace-level machining specifications.
  • Deep understanding of tooling, cutting speeds/feeds, work holding, and material behaviors (e.g., aluminum, titanium, stainless steels).
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills to solve machining challenges without excessive supervision.
  • Skilled in first article inspections (FAI), SPC, and tight-tolerance quality control processes.
  • High personal standards for part quality, machine care, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple jobs under deadline pressure.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials (~50 lbs).
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate across departments.
  • Proficient with basic computer operations, preferably with familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with both prototype and production environments.
  • Exposure to aerospace quality management systems (AS9100) and documentation practices.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

If you are a hands-on individual with a passion for precision machining, technology and team development, we encourage you to apply and join our growing team!
