Job description

Job Title: Accounting & Process Manager

Department: Accounting

Company: IFAB Corp

About IFAB Corp

IFAB Corp is a mid-sized metal fabrication company delivering precision stamping, forming, welding, CNC machining, assembly, and painting for demanding industrial and Tier-1 supply customers. As we scale our operations, we are building a finance function that pairs disciplined accounting with strong process controls and accountability. This is a high-impact role for a hands-on accounting leader who not only owns the books, but actively strengthens how the company operates—identifying gaps, building the processes we are missing, and holding the organization to its procedures.

Position Overview

The Accounting & Process Manager owns the day-to-day accounting operations of IFAB Corp. Reporting to the Controller, this role manages the general ledger and month-end close and supervises the accounts payable and accounts receivable team. Beyond core accounting, this position is responsible for evaluating existing financial and operational processes, identifying gaps, designing and implementing the controls and procedures that are missing, and reporting where procedures are not being followed or accountability is breaking down. You will be both a leader and a doer—driving accuracy and timely reporting while continuously improving how work gets done across the business.

Key Responsibilities

1. General Accounting & Close

  • Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely results.

  • Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

  • Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules for the Controller.

  • Maintain and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and documented procedures.

2. Process Improvement & Gap Identification

  • Evaluate current accounting and cross-functional operational processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and missing controls.

  • Design, document, and implement new procedures and workflows where none exist or where existing ones fall short.

  • Standardize and improve recurring processes (close, reconciliations, approvals, purchasing, inventory handling) to reduce errors and rework.

  • Recommend and help implement system and automation improvements that strengthen accuracy and efficiency.

3. Accountability & Compliance Reporting

  • Monitor adherence to established financial and operational procedures across departments.

  • Identify and report where procedures are not being followed and where accountability is lacking, escalating clearly and constructively to the Controller and leadership.

  • Develop reporting and metrics that make process compliance and ownership visible to management.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal/state tax requirements, and internal control standards; support external audits and regulatory filings with clean documentation.

4. Team Leadership

  • Supervise, coach, and develop the accounts payable and accounts receivable clerks.

  • Review AP/AR transactions for accuracy, proper coding, and adherence to controls.

  • Manage workload distribution, cross-training, and performance for the accounting team.

5. Cash, Cost & Reporting Support

  • Monitor cash flow, bank reconciliations, and assist with treasury activities.

  • Support cost accounting, inventory valuation, and variance analysis relevant to fabrication operations.

  • Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting to leadership to support business decisions.

Qualifications & Skills

Educational & Technical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close ownership.

  • CPA license (preferred, not required).

  • Experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, or a job-shop/cost-accounting environment.

  • Experience with Sage 500 (or comparable ERP) and/or ERP Changeover.

  • Familiarity with standard costing, inventory, and variance analysis.

  • Process improvement or internal-controls background (e.g., documenting SOPs, building control frameworks).

Skills & Abilities:

  • Prior supervisory or team-lead experience.

  • Demonstrated experience identifying process gaps and building/improving accounting or operational procedures.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.

  • Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the confidence to raise accountability issues professionally.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
