Job Description
Make an impact in Mesa, AZ

Step into a lead role designing sophisticated electronics that integrate with military platforms—aircraft included. As a Lead Avionics Hardware Design Engineer, you will guide concept-to-production hardware development for ICE products, shaping critical electrical systems, CCAs, PWBs, and embedded firmware in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.

A day in the role

You’ll move from early architecture decisions to hands-on design in Altium, from bench testing to design reviews, and from system requirement definition to firmware updates. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary partners to deliver robust solutions that meet demanding aerospace and defense standards.

What you’ll tackle
  • Own the architecture, design, development, debug, deployment, and sustainment of electronic hardware for new and existing ICE products.
  • Design, build, and validate electrical systems, including CCAs, printed circuit boards, and related firmware.
  • Define and document system, hardware, and data I/O requirements.
  • Create, enhance, test, integrate, and update embedded software and firmware.
  • Assess designs, equipment choices, and methodologies; recommend improvements.
  • Participate in and contribute to design reviews with clear, constructive feedback.
  • Track industry advances and incorporate innovative approaches into designs.
  • Prepare and support documentation such as specifications, test plans, and reports.
  • Travel occasionally as project needs arise.
What you bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering strongly preferred.
  • 6+ years of electrical/computer engineering experience; or
  • Associate’s degree with 9+ years of electronic design experience (in lieu of Bachelor’s).
  • Hands-on expertise with digital communication hardware/protocols: UART, SPI, I2C, IrDA, USB, WiFi, RFID, TCP/IP, RS-485, MIL-STD-1553.
  • Extensive Altium Designer experience.
  • Deep background in CCA hardware and PWB development.
  • Ability to excel independently and within multidisciplinary teams; strong organization and prioritization.
  • Experience with encryption hardware is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance is required.
Where you’ll work

This role is based in Mesa, AZ, with occasional travel.
