Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Fabricator to oversee and coordinate fabrication operations within our facility. As a key leader on the team, you will be responsible for guiding the fabrication process, ensuring quality standards are met, and maintaining safety protocols. Your expertise in metal fabrication, welding, and technical drawing interpretation will drive efficiency and excellence across projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic team, implement best practices, and contribute to complex fabrication projects that demand precision and craftsmanship.

Duties

  • In this role, you will impact the efficiency and quality of our manufacturing processes by delivering expertly crafted components that meet customer specifications and contribute to the overall success of our production operations.
  • Lead and supervise fabrication team members, assigning tasks and monitoring progress to meet project deadlines.
  • Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication of metal components.
  • Oversee the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW), and machining tools to produce high-quality metal parts.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, OSHA standards, AWS (American Welding Society) standards, AS9100, ASME codes & standards, and company policies during all operations.
  • Perform measurements using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math calculations to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Coordinate with project managers and engineers to plan fabrication sequences, manage materials such as sheet metal and other metals, and optimize workflow.
  • Conduct quality inspections on fabricated parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices; troubleshoot fabrication issues promptly.
  • Operate press brake machines, laser machines, rigging equipment, pipe threading tools, bending, and other machinery essential for metal fabrication.
  • Experience operating forklifts and scissor lifts.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending process enhancements and training team members on new techniques or equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience

  • 5+ years of progressive production or manufacturing experience. Minimum 3 years of direct people leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, and accountability.
  • Experience using paperless parts, fusion, solidworks,
  • Extensive knowledge of welding techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and gas metal arc welding processes.
  • Skilled in blueprint reading and mechanical blueprint interpretation for complex fabrication projects.
  • Experience involving rigging, pipe threading, plasma cutting, machining operations, laser operations, bending, press brake usage, and assembly processes.
  • Proficiency with measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers; solid understanding of shop math for precise measurements.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately while adhering to ASME codes & standards for safety and quality compliance.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, gas welding equipment, and fabrication machinery.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in supervising teams within a fabrication shop or construction site setting while maintaining safety protocol adherence.
  • Experience or familiarity supporting ISO-certified manufacturing environments.
