Job description

Homestead Village, is a Community Senior Life Community, where our focus is creating an enriching, remarkable senior living experience for our residents. We know it begins with the relationships built between our residents, families, and staff.

JOIN OUR TEAM!

Are you energetic, creative, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of seniors? We are seeking an Activities Assistant to help create meaningful, engaging experiences for residents in our senior living community.

The Activities Assistant helps plan, organize, and lead a variety of programs designed to support the physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being of our residents. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, bringing new ideas to life, and creating opportunities for residents to stay active, connected, and engaged.

What You'll Do
  • Plan, organize, promote, and lead a variety of resident activities, including social events, games, crafts, educational programs, exercise, spiritual programs, and other recreational activities.
  • Plan and participate in at least two resident outings or excursions each week.
  • Safely operate a 15-passenger van/bus to transport residents to activities and community outings.
  • Get to know new residents and learn about their interests, hobbies, and preferences to help create meaningful activities.
  • Provide individual activities and engagement for residents when group activities are not appropriate.
  • Coordinate volunteers to assist with programs such as Bible studies, educational activities, crafts, parties, and special events.
  • Assist with Resident Council or Advisory meetings and use resident feedback to help develop future programs.
  • Maintain activity supplies and ensure materials are available for scheduled events.
  • Assist with community social media posts while protecting resident privacy and honoring media-release preferences.
  • Help ensure activities and exercise programs support the community's Fall Prevention Plan.
  • Monitor activity expenses and purchases within the department's established budget.
  • Work closely with community leadership and other departments to adjust activities based on resident needs and feedback.
  • Assist with resident care and activities of daily living (ADLs) when needed.
  • Participate in regulatory surveys and inspections as required.
  • Assist with community preparation and response during severe weather or other natural events.
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a social, recreational, activities, or similar program required.
  • Understanding of the physical, mental, spiritual, and social needs of seniors.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to organize and lead activities for individuals and groups.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, patient, dependable, and enthusiastic when working with seniors.
  • Ability and willingness to safely operate a 15-passenger van/bus.
  • Ability to maintain resident confidentiality and treat residents and families with dignity and respect.
  • Current CPR certification or ability to maintain required CPR certification.
Physical Requirements

This position requires regular standing, walking, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, and other physical activity associated with resident programs and outings. The Activities Assistant must be able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently.

Why This Role Matters

Activities are more than entertainment. They provide opportunities for residents to stay connected, maintain independence, build friendships, remain active, and enjoy a greater sense of purpose. As an Activities Assistant, you'll have the opportunity to make each day more meaningful for the residents we serve.

If you're creative, compassionate, and enjoy bringing people together, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today to join our team!
