Family Law Paralegal

Hometown Recruiting is partnering with a Raleigh-area employer seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal who can confidently support three or more attorneys in a busy legal environment.

The Impact You’ll Make

Family law matters often involve sensitive circumstances, changing priorities, and important deadlines. In this role, your organization, judgment, and follow-through will help attorneys serve clients effectively while keeping cases progressing.

You will provide direct support to three or more attorneys, making the ability to prioritize, communicate, and remain composed under pressure essential to your success.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide comprehensive paralegal and administrative support to three or more family law attorneys

  • Assist with matters involving divorce, child custody, child support, equitable distribution, alimony, domestic violence, and related family law issues

  • Draft and format pleadings, motions, correspondence, discovery materials, subpoenas, notices, and other legal documents

  • Prepare discovery requests and responses while tracking outstanding documents and deadlines

  • Organize financial records, exhibits, evidence, and case-related documentation

  • Maintain accurate electronic and physical client files

  • Monitor court dates, filing deadlines, attorney calendars, and case milestones

  • File documents with the appropriate courts and confirm successful submission

  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients, attorneys, court personnel, and other involved parties

  • Assist attorneys with hearing, mediation, deposition, and trial preparation

  • Request and organize records and supporting documentation

  • Coordinate meetings, consultations, and case-related appointments

  • Prepare binders, exhibits, summaries, and other materials for attorney review

  • Enter time and maintain accurate case information within the firm’s systems

  • Identify upcoming needs and follow up on open items without requiring frequent reminders

  • Protect confidential and sensitive client information

Required Experience and Qualifications
  • Prior family law paralegal experience is required

  • Demonstrated ability to support three or more attorneys simultaneously

  • Working knowledge of family law terminology, procedures, deadlines, and legal documentation

  • Experience drafting and preparing family law pleadings, discovery, and correspondence

  • Strong understanding of court filing procedures and case management

  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload with accuracy and professionalism

  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities

  • Careful attention to detail and consistent follow-through

  • Sound judgment when handling confidential and emotionally sensitive matters

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case-management technology

  • Ability to work onsite in Raleigh, North Carolina
