The schools have a strong record of graduation and are recognized by U.S. News & World Report, Newsweek, the U.S. Department of Education, and the California Department of Education.

Role Summary

The Vice President, Operations provides executive-level leadership to develop and manage multiple functional areas and cross‑functional teams. The VP shapes organizational strategy, leads cross-functional initiatives, and ensures operational excellence across Alliance’s schools.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Own the operational strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of Alliance's school support systems to enable strong scholar outcomes.
  • Guide functional leads of the Operations Division to develop clear, measurable operational plans aligned with the larger strategy.
  • Lead and develop school‑facing operational support teams to strengthen coaching, improve school performance, and ensure consistent implementation of network priorities.
  • Drive initiatives to improve cross‑functional coordination and communication with other Home Office departments.
  • Hold functional teams accountable for achieving network operational performance goals through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Develop organizational capacity by designing scalable systems, strengthening leadership pipelines, and reducing operational variability across schools.
  • Manage and coach direct reports, oversee Team operations, review work with actionable feedback, and build operational capacity with coaching and professional learning.
  • Implement a vision and framework for hiring, operations leadership professional development, staff development, and performance management in alignment with the Alliance School Operations Leadership rubric.
  • Manage budgets for the Network Operations Lead, Business Operations, and Facilities teams.
  • Oversee strategic leadership of Business Operations, including attendance strategy, nutrition program oversight, safety strategy, scholar health operations, and operational monitoring.
  • Oversee Facilities Maintenance & Repair Team: ensure regulatory compliance, risk management, vendor strategy, capital improvement projects, and financial stewardship.
  • Lead the Network Operations Lead Team to provide operational support, define expectations, ensure effective coaching, identify systemic barriers, and scale high‑impact practices.
Ideal Candidates
  • Demonstrated success leading large‑scale, cross‑functional operational organizations or initiatives.
  • Exceptional people leader with high‑performing team experience.
  • Executive presence and ability to influence all organizational levels.
  • Systems‑thinking abilities to translate data into strategy and execution.
  • Proven track record driving outcomes and managing complex change across a school system of similar size.
  • Prior experience as Assistant Principal of Operations at a K‑12 school or similar role for at least two years.
  • Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience in compliance, audits, risk assessment, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of urban school environments and school culture.
  • Ability to lead effectively in a multi‑layered organization and build strong relationships with school leaders and colleagues.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to contribute to a dynamic team.
  • Commitment to Alliance’s core beliefs and educational philosophy.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office and Google‑based applications.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree.
  • 5+ years of progressive professional experience in a public school district, public administration, charter school/education management organization, or related field, including at least three years of school leadership experience.
Benefits & Compensation
  • Competitive salary range: $130,000.00 – $173,500.00.
  • Generous retirement and health benefits.
  • Professional development support: $500 per year for professional development expenses.
  • Relocation bonus: $5,000 for individuals and $7,500 for families/partners residing outside the Greater Los Angeles area.
  • Hybrid work model: combination of working from home, network office, and travel to school sites; $400 work‑from‑home set‑up allowance and a monthly stipend of $100.
Work Location
