Job description

HOLLMAN, INC.
DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES
Position Summary
Hollman, Inc. is seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Human Resources to lead the Human Resources function and serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership. This position is responsible for building and maintaining a high-performing HR function that supports the company's continued growth, strengthens manager accountability, ensures consistent employee practices, and maintains strong employment-law and regulatory compliance.
The Director of Human Resources will lead and develop the HR team while maintaining a visible presence throughout the organization, including Hollman's manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable working with executive leadership, coaching managers, addressing employee concerns, and improving day-to-day HR processes. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring sound judgment, strong employee-relations expertise, and the ability to create structure without unnecessary bureaucracy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead the Human Resources function and provide direction, coaching, development, and accountability to HR team members.
• Serve as a trusted HR advisor to executive leadership and partner with leaders on organizational structure, workforce planning, employee relations, performance, compensation, and talent decisions.
• Establish consistent HR policies, procedures, documentation standards, and manager practices across the organization.
• Serve as the senior point of escalation for complex employee-relations matters and conduct or oversee fair, timely, and well-documented workplace investigations.
• Coach managers on performance management, corrective action, attendance, documentation, conflict resolution, terminations, and employee communication.
• Maintain a strong, approachable, and regular presence within manufacturing operations and build trusted relationships with hourly and salaried employees.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, and other workplace requirements.
• Oversee leave administration, ADA accommodation processes, workers' compensation coordination, return-to-work matters, personnel records, and required HR documentation.
• Conduct periodic HR audits and proactively identify and address areas of compliance or organizational risk.
• Maintain and regularly update the employee handbook, HR policies, procedures, and employee acknowledgments.
• Oversee recruiting and hiring for manufacturing, professional, technical, and leadership positions and partner with department leaders on workforce planning.
• Develop consistent recruiting, interviewing, selection, offer, onboarding, and orientation processes.
• Monitor recruiting effectiveness, turnover, retention, absenteeism, time-to-fill, and other key workforce metrics.
• Develop and oversee manager and supervisor training in HR fundamentals, documentation, performance management, harassment prevention, employee relations, and workplace expectations.
• Lead the company's performance-management process and help managers establish clear expectations, provide meaningful feedback, and address performance issues promptly.
• Partner with leadership on compensation practices, annual compensation reviews, benefits strategy, succession planning, and organizational development.
• Ensure strategic payroll administration, compliance oversight, and cross-departmental coordination between HR and Finance.
• Manage the relationship with the employee benefits broker to design cost-effective, competitive, and compliant benefit offerings and oversee the overall execution of Hollman's employee benefit programs.
• Oversee 401(k) plan operations, ensuring timely contributions, regulatory compliance, and smooth coordination between employees and financial providers.
• Provide oversight of HRIS administration, manage vendor relationships, and ensure employee data, personnel changes, reporting, and records are accurate and timely.
• Identify opportunities to improve and automate HR processes while maintaining appropriate controls and confidentiality.
• Support employee engagement, recognition, communication, retention, and culture initiatives aligned with Hollman's business objectives and values.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
• 7-10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including meaningful HR leadership responsibility.
• Prior HR experience in manufacturing, production, distribution, or similar operational environment required.
• Demonstrated experience supporting both hourly/frontline and salaried/professional employees.
• Strong working knowledge of federal and Texas employment laws and HR compliance requirements, with the ability to support remote employees in MO, CO, OR, FL, and IA.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex employee-relations matters and workplace investigations.
• Experience developing HR policies, processes, manager training, and performance management programs.
• Experience leading, coaching, and developing HR staff.
• Strong business judgment with the ability to balance employee advocacy, legal compliance, consistency, and operational needs.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, conflict-resolution, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, privately held, entrepreneurial environment.
• Experience with HRIS/payroll platforms; Paycor experience is a plus.
• PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred due to the significant Spanish-speaking
population within the manufacturing workforce.
Leadership Profile
The successful candidate will be an approachable, credible, and decisive HR leader who is comfortable working at every level of the organization. This individual should be proactive, highly organized, objective during difficult situations, comfortable challenging managers when necessary, and capable of building trust while maintaining appropriate boundaries and accountability. Hollman is seeking a leader who enjoys being close to the business and employees rather than managing Human Resources solely from behind a desk.
