Position Overview

Highland Rivers Counseling, LLC is actively seeking a dedicated and empathetic Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic and trauma-informed team. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work remotely while making a significant impact on the lives of individuals affected by trauma. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field along with a minimum of two years of experience in mental health counseling, preferably with a focus on trauma-related disorders.

Work Environment

This is a fully remote position that allows for flexibility in scheduling while ensuring a collaborative atmosphere through regular virtual meetings and consultations. The therapist will work closely with a team of specialists, including psychiatrists and other mental health professionals, to provide integrated and comprehensive care tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough trauma-informed assessments to evaluate clients’ histories and identify needs for effective treatment.
  • Create and implement individualized treatment plans that empower clients to pursue trauma recovery and resilience.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), during therapy sessions.
  • Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions that support clients in processing trauma and developing practical coping strategies.
  • Regularly collaborate with fellow professionals to coordinate care and ensure a holistic approach to treatment.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed, offering timely support during trauma-related emergencies.
  • Educate clients and their families about trauma responses, healthy coping mechanisms, and available community resources.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential clinical documentation in line with ethical and legal requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing case consultations, team meetings, and professional development opportunities focused on trauma-informed care practices.
  • Stay informed about the latest research trends and best practices within the field of trauma therapy to enhance therapeutic effectiveness.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Qualifications
  • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as an LCSW, LCPC, or LMFT in the state of Illinois.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in providing mental health therapy; preference for those with a trauma focus.
  • Robust knowledge of trauma-related disorders and treatment modalities.
  • Demonstrated ability to employ trauma-focused therapeutic techniques effectively.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, characterized by a compassionate and non-judgmental demeanor.
  • Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems is essential to maintain accurate client documentation.
  • Team-oriented mindset that values collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Experience

While two years of post-licensure experience is required, candidates with additional experience in trauma recovery therapeutic approaches, crisis intervention techniques, or group therapy facilitation are especially encouraged to apply.

Compensation and Benefits
