Valid Arizona DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card

Role Description


The Physics Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging physics instruction aligned with Highland Prep’s STEM-focused, college-preparatory curriculum.


Primary responsibilities include:


  • Developing and implementing standards-aligned lesson plans
  • Teaching physics concepts at various levels
  • Integrating mathematics and real-world problem-solving into physics instruction
  • Assessing student learning through formative and summative evaluations
  • Providing students with timely and constructive feedback
  • Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Maintaining a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Using educational technology and student data to support instruction
  • Collaborating with colleagues to promote interdisciplinary learning
  • Participating in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities
  • Communicating with students, families, and staff regarding academic progress and student well-being


Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of physics and related scientific principles
  • Experience teaching physics or science at the secondary level
  • Proficiency in mathematics as applied to physics concepts and problem-solving
  • Demonstrated skill in lesson planning, curriculum implementation, classroom organization, and student engagement
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Physics Education, Science Education, or a closely related field
  • Advanced degree preferred but not required
  • Valid or eligible Arizona secondary teaching certification in Physics or a related science field
  • Valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and support inclusive classroom practices
  • Strong communication and classroom-management skills
  • Comfort using educational technology and data-driven instructional practices
