Job description

Job Description

The Commissioning Technician is responsible for the CNC mechanical startup and commissioning, ensuring that the mechatronic system of the CNC meets requirements and completing the pre and final acceptance to ensure quality standards are achieved.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Start-up of CNC machines to Heller factory specifications
    • Input parameters, set/adjust fluidic pressures, set/adjust sensors, etc.
  • Troubleshooting of CNC errors.
  • Measuring and establishing the machine coordinate system (reference points). according to protocols.
  • Measuring and aligning sub-systems (pallet changer, tool changer, tool magazine).
  • Utilizing precision measuring equipment (indicators, levels, lasers, ballbar, associated software) to perform pre and final geometrical acceptance of the CNC.
    • Review measurement results and determine corrections.
  • Final assembly activities.
  • Installation and initial setup of workpiece clamping fixtures.
  • Support and troubleshooting as needed to address CNC/workpiece clamping fixture concerns identified during the NC application debug process.
  • Loading, editing, and creating CNC programs and cycles.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.

  • None

Education and Experience:

  • Advanced training in CNC mechatronic commissioning systems.
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience with CNCs.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical and fluidic prints and drawings.
  • Strong understanding of mechatronic systems utilized in CNCs.
  • Operational knowledge of CNC controls (Siemens/Fanuc)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Time management skills, adhering to customer schedules.
  • Self-motivated; able to work alone or in a team.
  • Strong math skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Willing to work overtime as required.
  • Some travel domestic and international required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent: Standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, stooping, crawling and reaching. Pushing, pulling, and lifting objects. Repetitive foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso movements.
  • Periodic: Operating power equipment, sitting at desk, utilizing computers and phones.
  • Occasional: Lifting or moving up to 50lbs.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Safety glasses
  • Hearing protection may be required while performing specific tasks.
  • Steel toe safety shoes may be required while performing specific tasks.

Work Environment:

  • Works in a plant environment.
  • Some travel may be required.

Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
