    Compensation:

    Sign-On Bonus: $10,000

    Shift Premium: $1.60 per hour in addition to base pay

    HealthSource Saginaw is seeking compassionate and motivated Registered Nurses to join our Medical Rehabilitation team. In this role, you will care for patients recovering from surgery, illness, injury, or complex medical conditions, supporting their journey toward improved function, independence, and quality of life.

    What You'll Do:

    The Registered Nurse will perform the full range of assignments including but not limited to:

    • Assess patient's condition on admission and on an ongoing basis based on observation and/or interview of patient and/or family, physician's diagnosis, laboratory findings, and any other pertinent information. Use professional judgment to prepare a measurable, attainable, reasonable, specific and individualized plan of care for the patients.
    • Participate in treatment team conference necessary for planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. Develop and update care plans on a daily or regular basis according to facility policy and procedure or patient's condition changes.
    • Participate with the ongoing monitoring and data collection for Performance Improvement Council on own unit.
    • Provide professional nursing care including the administration of medications, starting and monitoring IV's, and performing the more complex as well as routine treatments as prescribed by a physician or as indicated by patient's condition.
    • Use professional judgment regarding appropriateness of care given the present condition of the patient. Modify treatments and/or contacts physician depending on thecircumstances.
    • Collaborate with members of the multi-disciplinary team in planning, evaluating and revising the patient's plan of care. Direct other nursing personnel in the implementation of that care plan. Evaluate quality of care provided and provide guidance and direction.
    • Make regular rounds of assigned patients independently and with Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor and/or physician, observe and evaluate patient's symptoms, progress and reaction to treatments and medications.
    • Recognize changes in patient's physiological and psychological status and initiate appropriate action to provide safe therapeutic approaches. Complete all necessary documentation.
    • Intervenes in disruptive/destructive patient situations through utilization of appropriate behavioral management techniques as taught through the SECURE training module.
    • Report to Nurse Executive, Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor, Charge Nurse or physician all pertinent observations related to patient care, meds given, treatments administered and so forth.
    • Responsible for the patient/family teaching and/or significant others regarding the care related to patient diagnosis. Explain home care methods, medications, and instructions necessary for continuing patient care and rehabilitation following discharge.
    • Assist in orienting and training new personnel to the unit and serve as a resource person for other facility personnel and students.
    • Communicate with other facility departments as necessary to resolve operational problems and to utilize their expertise in planning and delivering quality patient care by following safety and infection control standards.
    • Implement specific responsibilities as delegated by Nurse Executive/Nurse Manager/Nursing Supervisor. May assume responsibility for some of the Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor or Charge Nurse functions as assigned in their absence.
    • Serve on committees and attend staff meetings. Attend all mandatory in-services, and meetings to maintain and enhance personal and professional growth and development.
    • Practice Standard Precautions, utilizing hand washing and barrier use when there is risk of contact with blood, body fluid, mucous membrane or non-intact skin. Provides barrier for self when there is evidence of non-intact skin on hands.
