Job description

Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

The Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for safe, evidence-based administration of oncology therapies and comprehensive patient care across the continuum. The Oncology RN supports antineoplastic medication administration, patient assessment, care coordination, and education for oncology patients in both clinic and infusion settings. The Oncology RN ensures adherence to established oncology protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Primary responsibilities include administering antineoplastic therapies, performing comprehensive patient assessments, monitoring patients for adverse reactions, maintaining strict adherence to medication safety practices, coordinating care with physicians and interdisciplinary team members, providing patient and caregiver education, documenting care activities, implementing clinical procedures, supporting triage functions, upholding clinical competency, and utilizing critical thinking skills.

Work Experience

Minimum qualifications include an associate's degree in nursing or nursing diploma, one year of nursing experience, RN licensure in the State of Florida or endorsement, American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card, and completion of the Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Fundamentals of Administration Course through the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).

Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in nursing, three years of nursing experience, and Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification through the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC).

Physical Requirements

Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently. May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance. May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead. May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift. May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise. May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines. Communicating with others to exchange information. Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks. Workspace may vary from open to confined. May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
