The role of Licensed Mental Health Counselor operates primarily in a remote setting, providing you the flexibility to connect with clients while maintaining a work-life balance. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations by interviewing clients, gathering relevant history, and documenting findings from initial consultations to treatment conclusion.
• Design and implement personalized treatment plans, utilizing evidence-based practices tailored for individuals, couples, families, and groups.
• Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, ensuring a safe space for clients to express themselves and pursue their recovery goals.
• Monitor and assess client progress, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans based on observed outcomes and ongoing evaluations.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of mental health and medical professionals to coordinate holistic care, enhancing the overall therapeutic experience for clients.
• Maintain open lines of communication with psychiatrists and other healthcare providers regarding medication management and any necessary inpatient referrals.
• Identify potential barriers to recovery and collaborate with clients, their families, and caregivers to mitigate challenges that may impede progress.
• Stay abreast of the latest developments in mental health care practices and contribute to ongoing team education and improvement initiatives.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will interact with a diverse clientele that includes adults, couples, and families facing a range of mental health challenges. This includes but is not limited to depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and trauma-related disorders. You will play a crucial role in fostering a trusting environment, facilitating healing, resilience, and personal growth throughout the therapeutic journey.

Qualifications

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, or LICSW in Massachusetts.
• A minimum score required on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
• Proficient in the use of electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of various mental health disorders and their treatment, including familiarity with alcohol and substance abuse issues.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as strong interpersonal abilities to foster meaningful client relationships.

Preferred Experience

• Hands-on experience as a mental health counselor in a clinical or community setting.
• Knowledge of AMHCA best practices and guidelines.
• Experience working with clients facing complex mental and emotional health challenges.
• Experience or training in addressing issues related to addiction and co-occurring disorders.
