Healing With Horses Ranch

Title Recreational Therapist 

Reports to: Program Director

Commitment: Part-Time (6 - 36 hours per week)

Healing with Horses Ranch seeks a Recreational Therapist to help plan, direct and implement safe and effective equine assisted activities for individuals with disabilities with the support of a PATH INTL. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor. 

All applicants need to be available to work at least one of the following shifts

• Tuesday 8:30am - 1:00pm
• Thursday 3:30pm - 8:00pm
• Sunday 3:30pm - 8:00pm

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Effectively and professionally co-lead clients in equine activities with a PATH INTL. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI) 
• Create details assessments of client’s needs, interests, and strengths upon started equine assisted services
• Professionally communicate with guardians, caregivers, and clients pre-lesson and post-lesson 
• Produce professional and timely progress notes and develop treatment plans that support clients in achieving their goals
• Develop innovative activity plans that have measurable objectives that support each client in addressing their goals
• Assure that volunteers assigned are included as part of the team by collaborating with them before and after each session
• Create a safe environment for horses by helping ensure that all stalls are cleaned, horses have hay and water before and after sessions
• Create a professional workspace by ensuring that all required documentation and training are completed and maintained in your staff folder.
• Collaborate in staff, program, and equine meetings by attending or adding to/reading agenda and minutes.

 

Requirements

Objective

Responsible for planning, directing and implementing safe and effective equine assisted activities for individuals with disabilities with the support of a PATH INTL. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor. 

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university 
• Current certification as a Recreational Therapist (CTRS) with National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification

• Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and manage multiple projects
• Proficient in developing treatment plans that meet the individualized goals of the client
• Comfortable with co-facilitating activities and working with a diverse team
• Ability to communicate with families, clients, staff, and volunteers in a professional courteous manner regarding sessions, problems, solutions and schedules 
• Strong risk management skills
• Strong decision making ability
• Excellent attention to detail
• Dependable and capable of working with minimum or no supervision, but also capable of asking for and enlisting assistance

Salary & Benefits

Part time 6 - 36 hours/week.  $19-$25/hr based on experience.
