Summary:

The Product Design Engineer is responsible for designing sheet metal parts and assemblies for use in production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties may include the following. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary to support quality goals and objectives.

• Validate each line item on an order to ensure that it matches the approved submittal drawings.
• Assembles drawing and information package for each unit.
• Creates 3D design and/or sheet metal layout of each part and creates shop drawing of each piece.
• Updates bill of material information on each line item.
• Releases order to NC programming.
• Creates new model designs to meet customer requirements or product development needs.
• Assist R&D in development of new products and release of product to production including:
• 3D Models
• BOM
• Assembly Instructions
• Field installation instructions
• Illustrations for listing and O&M
• FMEA
• Creates formulations for parts and BOM’s for standardization in the MRP system.
• Makes revisions to parts and/or assemblies for product improvements.
• Enters BOM’s, parts, formulations, etc. into ERP system

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent of 2 years related experience minimum
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Solidworks and/or similar design software as well as proficiency in Microsoft office products

Language Skills

• Ability to read and speak English
• Possess both written and oral communication skills appropriate to a workplace environment

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

Other Skills

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
