Job description

The role involves preparing and reviewing tax returns, analyzing financial data, and staying current with evolving tax regulations. Core Responsibilities: Tax Compliance & Reporting: Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns (e.g., corporate, partnership, sales & use tax) and associated supporting documents. Financial Analysis: Analyze financial statements, reconcile tax accounts, and calculate tax provisions for financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards like US GAAP

Tax Research & Planning: Conduct research on complex tax issues, interpret tax laws, and recommend strategies to optimize tax positions and leverage deductions or credits (e.g., R&D credits). Audit Support: Assist with internal and external tax audits by gathering necessary documentation, responding to inquiries, and communicating with tax authorities like the IRS. Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements and automation across tax functions, often using data analytics tools to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, accounting, legal, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of tax considerations into business decisions. Required Qualifications and Skills: Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is typically required. A Master's degree in Taxation (MST) or a CPA certification is often preferred or required for senior roles.

Experience: Most roles require 2-5 years of experience in tax compliance or analysis, often from a public accounting firm or a corporate tax department. Technical Skills: Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., CCH Axcess, Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE). Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and modeling

Familiarity with general ledger/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Knowledge of tax research platforms (e.g., BNA Bloomberg Tax, Checkpoint).
