Franklin County is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and collaborative leader to serve as its next County Administrator. This is a unique opportunity to help guide county government operations while working closely with elected officials, department leaders, employees, and the public to ensure effective and efficient delivery of county services.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, the County Administrator serves as the Commissioners' chief administrative agent and is responsible for the effective operation of all administrative functions of Franklin County Government.

The County Administrator works under the direction of the Board of County Commissioners and ensures that county operations are conducted in accordance with county policies and the laws of the State of Maine governing county government.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and oversight of county administrative operations
  • Implement policies and directives established by the County Commissioners
  • Coordinate activities among county departments and offices
  • Assist in strategic planning, budgeting, and organizational management
  • Ensure compliance with state laws, regulations, and county policies
  • Advise and support the County Commissioners on administrative matters
  • Promote effective communication and collaboration among county officials, employees, and stakeholders

Compensation and Benefits

Franklin County offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Prior years of relevant work experience shall determine the rate of pay for the position.
    • Salary Range - $91,000 - $115,000
  • Eligible for health insurance coverage, the first day of the month begins with the following hire. Employee-only coverage is paid 100% by the employer. Spouse, child, and family coverage will involve a 15% cost to the employee.
  • Eligible for individual Dental and Vision coverage at employee cost. Dependent coverage will involve a cost to the employee.
  • Eligible for life insurance and short-term disability, subject to applicable waiting periods.
  • Retirement: Eligible to participate in the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, OR the Maine Public Employees Retirement Plan.
  • Paid time off to include sick, vacation, and 13 paid holidays.
